The origin of the mod coat dates back to the 1950s in America. Its origins lie in a military parka called the "PARKA SHELL M-1951." This parka was used by the US Army as cold weather clothing in extremely cold regions. The name "M-1951" comes from the year it was made. Based on this M-51 parka, mod coats of various designs have appeared, and today they are popular as a staple coat for stylish fashion.

One of the distinctive details of this item is the "fishtail" hem with a swallowtail split at the back and a drawstring sewn into the hem to wrap around the lower leg. The gathered design at the back has the effect of tightening the style.
