Hawaiian shirts, commonly known as aloha shirts, were created by students in Hawaii, combining Southeast Asian clothing styles with Japanese printed fabrics. In the 1950s, their bright, casual character and vivid patterns made them a part of summer attire, and they have remained popular for over 100 years.
